How to achieve your goals and dreams

Goal Setting Definition

Goal setting is a management technique that involves developing an action plan with a target for a team or individual. It is considered both a tool of strategy implementation and performance management, As such, it is a critical management function that often follows a methodology, framework, or standard across an organization.

How To Achieve A Goal Successfully

Knowing how to achieve goals is easy only if you do the following:

1.  First Learn How To Set Goals That Motivate You

What incentive could move you to sacrifice time and money for projects. What could propel you to move into action with force? If there is an answer to that question, that means you have seen the steam that propels the ship. Then two things must follow.

  • Write Down Why It’s Valuable.
  • Why It Is Important.

2.  Set Smart Goals

a.  Smart Goals Are Usually Specific

You need to be precise, you must treat your goals in part as opposed to the general content and with that, you can create an area of specialization.

b.  Time-Bound

This is a period considered as a resource under your control and sufficient enough to accomplish something, but you must work within this time frame for your goal to be profitable.

c.  Let The Time Frame For Your Goals Be Measurable

Include the precise amount, dates, and so on in your goals, so you can measure your degree of success. If your goal is simply defined as” To reduce expenses” how will you know when you have been successful in four weeks if you have a 1% reduction or in two years, when you have an 8% reduction without a way to measure your success, you may lose the opportunity to celebrate relevant goals.

Goals should follow the direction in which your life is headed. By keeping goals in line with your life’s vision and mission, you will develop the focus and tenacity to get ahead.

3.  Set Goals In Writing

The following steps must be observed to set your goal in writing.

  • Frame your goal statement positively.
  • Make yourself a to-do list.
  • Action programs must be written at the top of your project catalog.

This physical act of writing down a goal makes it real and tangible. You will have no excuse for forgetting about it. Make the writing your will not your intentions. Your will has power if you wish to increase input, but the second would lack passion and gives you an excuse to lazy about.

4.  Make An Action Plan

Don’t get so focused on the outcome, but stay on the process and steps needed to get the outcome. That is you need to plan. By writing out all the needed steps and then cross or strike them each time you complete each, you will discover that you are making progress. It’s very important if you intend to succeed big time. For more details of this see my blog post titled How To Change Your Life When You Are So Sick Of It.

5. Stick With It

Life is a going concern. So also your goals. As long as you are alive, it is an- going activity, not just a means to an end. Even if your end destination may remain quite similar over a long time, but the action plan you set for yourself along the line may change significantly. Make sure your goal is relevant, has value and necessity is high. Build-in reminders to keep yourself on track and review your goals.
